Xiaoyue Gao is a PhD candidate in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. Building upon her foundational background in Biology and Bioinformatics, her current research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms of B-cell lymphoma. Her work integrates molecular and cellular biology with advanced sequencing technologies to decode the epigenetic landscape of cancer. Specifically, she is investigating the role of DNA methylation in lymphoma progression, with a primary focus on the functional roles of DNA methyltransferases, including DNMT1, DNMT3A, and DNMT3B. Beyond the laboratory, Jazz dance is her greatest passion and creative outlet. Immersing herself in the rhythm of the dance studio provides a vital sense of balance amidst the rigors of doctoral research. To her, the precision of science and the fluidity of Jazz are two sides of the same coin, both requiring dedication, technique, and a touch of inspiration.
