/about

Jessleen (Jess) Kanwal is a neuroscientist and postdoctoral scholar at California Institute of Technology in the laboratory of Joe Parker. Her research focuses on how animals integrate sensory information to guide social behavior and decision-making, using insects as model systems to study neural mechanisms underlying sensory processing and behavioral responses. She received her Ph.D. in neurobiology from Harvard University and was named a 2023 L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Fellow. Beyond research, she is passionate about science outreach and explores the intersection of neuroscience, movement, and dance.
