Xu Haiqing is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine, and currently engaged in research related to tumor biology and evolution, with a primary focus on the functional roles of genes in tumor initiation and progression. Using techniques such as CRISPR, he aims to systematically understand how interactions between genes (epistasis) and dynamic gene–environment interactions (G×E) jointly shape the trajectories of tumor development and evolution. This line of inquiry has deepened his fascination with the complexity and underlying principles of living systems. Outside of research, he is also deeply passionate about dance, especially hip-hop. For him, dance is a way to express himself and release energy, while research is a path toward rationally dissecting the world. Although these two fields may seem very different, both emphasize rhythm, structure, and creativity. He enjoys moving between rationality and sensibility, and hopes to explore more possibilities at the intersection of art and science in the future.
